War broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them any longer in heaven.—Rev. 12:7, 8.

Satan lost the battle foretold in Revelation chapter 12, and he and the demons were hurled down to the earth. Enraged, Satan began to vent his anger on humankind, resulting in “woe for the earth.” (Rev. 12:9-12) How can these prophecies benefit us? World events and the noticeable change in people’s attitude would help us discern that Jesus has become King. So rather than become upset when we see people act selfishly and hatefully, we remember that their actions are fulfilling Bible prophecy. The Kingdom is in place! (Ps. 37:1) And we can expect world distress to increase as Armageddon draws ever nearer. (Mark 13:8; 2 Tim. 3:13) Are you not thankful to our loving heavenly Father for helping us to make sense of our turbulent times? w22.07 3-4 ¶7-8

Do/did you ever wonder why there was even a 'war' in heaven, considering Jehovah could of just banished Satan & his cohorts to the earth. How did they fight? And yes, I'm aware that Jah has/had a timetable in place, but still...

And I wonder what the type of society structure is in heaven that allowed Satan to exist there and to keep causing disruption until 1914.
Did Satan and his followers live in the "bad neighbourhood" of Heaven? :)

I really like this question, @SteveAus

War: undoubtedly due to the nature of the enemy: warlike, exclusively evil, who wanted to fight since he contests the supremacy of the Creator of the universe. War because the hour of purification of the heavenly place had arrived and expulsion was inevitable. The Opponent and his disciples wanted to squat, to stay by force in a place that no longer wanted to welcome them so he had to call the 'army' to carry out the expulsion and this did not happen without resistance, even if it was lost in advance. Spirits have spiritual bodies so it is not difficult to think that the combat occurred between corporeal people.

This episode is fascinating. It teaches us that wickedness has no basis, it obviously has no ethics, no morality by definition. Lost for lost they tried everything for everything.

Did he really think he was a match for Jehovah and Jesus? However They cannot surrender without a fight, it is not part of the rebel's DNA.

They must live in a 'place' far from the light of the Father of Lights. This is what we read about Tartarus: "these angels have been brought low by Almighty God, thus losing their heavenly habitation and privileges, and have been delivered up to the state of creatures who are in the deepest mental darkness concerning the glorious purposes of God."

Perhaps we know things that are completely inaccessible to them, even though they have been observing us under a giant microscope since their expulsion in 1914.

The enemy had to be removed to finalize plans for the final battle.  Letting the enemy listen in would not be wise.  Jehovah can accomplish anything, but he delegates things to others.  I am sure Jesus was pleased to be the one who did God's will by casting Satan out of heaven.

Just thinking the same.  No doubt Jesus and his angels were just waiting for Jehovah to allow them to get rid of those wicked spirit creatures that taunted them. Satan on the other was defiant all the way and in a sense said "make me" and they did.

Dance. Even if there's no music.

That's exactly it, Chris. It is interesting to note the power of Jesus, even when he was just a man in front of them, but a man filled with holy spirit. Even the disciples cast out demons, with the same power. Sometimes they even negotiated because they were no match: 'our time has not come, allow us to enter the pigs'...

1914: it was war in heaven before the final war which will make them prisoners of war that no one wants to exchange. So at the end of the day: Farewell!
